Short term goalsShort term life goals in this regard refer to those aspirations I contemplate on accomplishing immediately on completion of my undergraduate studies. From the long list of a variety of goals, two of them, the short-term, are: To blend my undergraduate course with a short course in the related field. Secondly, I’ll have to look for employment as soon as possible. Before graduation, I’ll have registered in an institution offering a course in human resource management and another in networking.

The steps involved herein are just to enroll and begin studies immediately after I graduate. I’ve sourced these ideas from the professional experts already working in the engineering fields. Management skills and networking are said from professional experience to be crucial for graduate engineers aspiring to go far in the field (Benson et al. 519-525). These skills are not provided in the undergraduate engineering curriculum. Getting equipped with such will, therefore, be an added advantage during the job interviews and are very crucial in the field.

Besides taking the two courses, I’ll consider taking a two-month course with the Red-Cross since first aid knowledge is of paramount importance in an electrical engineering setting. Possessing certified of all these skills will adequately elevate my probability to convince a better part of employers in the field. Doing these short courses require a little amount of fee compared to the financial requirements of my undergraduate studies.
Moreover, the short-term goals are achievable, and all can be accomplished is a short span of time, all amounting to less than one year. Networking course takes three months while certificate in human resource management can take six months. Red-cross skills can be undertaken as a minor while taking a networking course. Networking will help in seeking for employment which is a great fundamental goal.

Long term goals
Long term goals include attaining job stabilities and saving for the future life. As an electrical, I wish to work with The NextEra Energy Generating Company, based in the US. The Company generates, transmits and distributes power in the US and Canada. The Company gets new employees by taking interviews. Excelling in their interviews requires that has some experience and since all the interviewees are engineers, have an extra knowledge of significant advantage. This is why I consider taking some engineering-related courses as short term goals.

In the energy industry, several publications are made about financial reports, investment and taxation guide, the capital projects and infrastructure along with several others. These publications are made by the company through the persons mandated to do so. Media comes in as the second holder of information originating from the company (Kuo 608-621). The company also makes its advertisements through the media group that distributes its publications.

One requirement to be able to work with the NextEra Energy Company is a license from the National Society of Professional Engineers. This is a conviction to the employers that one is tested beyond doubt and can deliver adequately in the field. One other requirement in the field is having a complete certificate of graduation from exclusively an accredited university.

Having worked in the field for some time, I can go for graduate studies in Nuclear energy. This has to do with the production of energy from radioactive elements such as Uranium (Kuo 608-621). The course is offered in some Universities including; The University of Idaho, the George Institute of Technology and The University of Michigan. These universities have an outstanding reputation regarding their practical performance in the field of Nuclear Energy. They have prototype machines used in splitting the uranium atom to yield huge amounts of energy.

Conclusively career management has to do with strategic planning as it is seen to unlock my life short and long term goals. It is the real combination of planning and choice management of one’s professional career.
