Employee motivation creates a driving force that generates will and desire in the work place. To improve motivation among the administrative staff members, cognitive, psychological, social and behavioral perspectives need to be taken into consideration. These are important in triggering both the conscious and unconscious levels of motivation among the employees (Ashwood, 2008). Motivational strategies are very crucial in eliciting the desire to work. To motivate the administrative staff I will involve them in decision making processes, set achievable goals and inspire them through encouraging positive thinking.
Decision making is a very critical aspect of organizational management. This is because it assists the organization to run its activities in an organization way. The administrative staff should be involved in the decision making process. This is because it will give them the opportunity to share and discuss their ideas on how certain activities should be carried out within the organization. This will make them feel that they are part of their organization. This can increase their association levels with the organization and thus improving their morale (Saul, 2007).
The administrative staff should be given achievable goals. These goals should be consistent with the mission and vision of the organization (Saul, 2007). The efforts of the employees who are working towards achieving these goals should be recognized at an individual level. This will give the employees moral support to work harder so as to attain that recognition. There should be regular evaluation of the set targets and cerebrate the short-term achievements. The efforts of the employees should be recognized through rewards and public recognition. This strategy is good because the staff will be working towards achieving the short-term goals and in the long-run they will have achieved success in the organizational objectives (Ashwood, 2008).
The staff should be encouraged to think positively. This can be through supplying of inspirational quotes that can assist them not to give up and overcome discouragement. This will assist in building mental and psychological wellbeing which will pave way for innovative and creative thinking. This will also ensure that the manager will be leading from the front. This is strategy is very crucial because in any organizational setup because there are always setbacks in the daily endeavors. Mental morale is very essential in handling these setbacks (Saul, 2007).
The motivational strategies need constant evaluation to determine their level of effectiveness. These strategies can be evaluated against organizational goals and objectives (Ashwood, 2008). The impact can be measured through the physical motivation levels in the employees and achievement of the set goals and targets. In our case, the administrative staff’s motivational trends can be measured changes in their behavior. By looking at how they socialize and work, it will be easy to determine if the strategies employed are effective.
