Artificial intelligence can be defined as a scientific way mechanisms are understood in an underlying thought, machines embodiment as well as intelligent behavior. Earlier before this definition artificial intelligence was referred to as a scientific way that machines are made to handle tasks that if done by human beings a lot of intelligence would be required.
As Johnson and Martin (77) support, computers are used to carry out artificial intelligence, they must be guided by human beings who use natural intelligence (Johnson and Martin,77). Therefore, without human beings who are computer experts, artificial intelligence will not be effective. In this study, arguments on how artificial intelligence is not possible will be analyzed for readers to get clear answers on the status of artificial intelligence.
There are several arguments that support the statement that artificial intelligence cannot be totally possible. As mentioned earlier above, the computer which is used for artificial intelligence was discovered and generated by human beings. It is well known that human beings have a natural intelligence that they were created and born with. one the argument is that an electrical circuit cannot instantiate love in it since love is not a particular thing but is universal. There is a difference between representing love and instantiating love. A computer machine cannot choose what to love and what not to. Though love folders or documents can be created and stored in the computer system. another argument is that anything that is universal cannot be composed and be installed in matter. The only option for a universal thing is representation. Since computers are artificial and are matter, they can only represent love. A computer cannot hate, reason, love or consider anything on its own. Natural intelligence is needed to command the computer to work effectively. The third argument is that a machine is not prone to thinking. For instance, one can take an apple photograph transfer it to a computer where it will be represented. The apple photograph is just a representation of the real apple. It is like someone creatively writes on paper a love sonnet which will be sent to a loved one. The person’s love for the person intended to receive the message will be represented by the sonnet.
Danaher and John (124) support that there is no way the human mind can be duplicated and incorporated in an artificial device (Danaher and John, 124). The human mind can only be applied. There are so many transitional states in human beings which follow new regimes depending on the situation an individual is in. the transitional states are for instance hypnosis psychopathological states sleep and drug influence. These states are complex and if a computer is emergened to be in such a state then great confusion will be seen. This states that due to their consciousness are hard to imitate since they have a biophysical significance with the way they function with the mind.
Lastly, the computer device can only be used to represent universals and particulars. The people using the machines are the ones responsible to ensure how the machine works, therefore, the computer machine cannot work by itself proving the fact that artificial intelligence is impossible. There is a very wide difference between representation and instantiation. In order to understand this concept clearly, let’s look at the definition of instantiation which can be referred to as universal or particular thing can be composed and made present with matter. This means that the thing that is composed, is already in matter and it only needs activation to work properly. A good example is that of Apple company where the apple form as it looks is the real apple itself, though it is just a representation. Particulars can only be instantiated in this matter. The computers only exhibit what is being instantiated.
Objectives that artificial intelligence is possible will be experienced from opposition side opposing the fact that artificial intelligence is impossible. Claims from there side will be from a computer point of view. Some of them will argue that if a computer can play games and win why is it not possible to contain an artificial intelligence? Another objective is that computers are used to solve complex situations. They are used as shortcuts, therefore, making artificial intelligence to be useful. Moreover, human beings rely widely on computers to accomplish their tasks which is a clear indication that artificial intelligence is needed since it is of high help.
The above claims are meant to prove the fact that artificial intelligence is possible. A clear argument to answer all these facts is that this computer device was discovered and created by human beings. In most cases when an individual play with a computer, the human being wins. This is because the individual understands how the computer works. All devices found on the computer are human generated. Therefore, they are controlled by human mind which in this case is a natural intelligence. Artificial intelligence is installed by artificial mind it cannot work on its own. It is being monitored by natural intelligence and all its services must be reviewed human beings for approval.
To conclude on this study, it easy clear from the above-mentioned evidence that artificial intelligence is impossible. Computer machines used to perform tasks cannot think, feel or love, they can only be used to perform a certain task. Artificial intelligence needs natural intelligence for it to work properly. That is the reason why devices such as computers are being controlled by human beings. Without this control, the machines cannot work effectively with their own intelligence.
