Lady Windermere’s fan is a play that was written by Oscar Wilde on the comedy of four cats. The story concerns a lady Windermere who raises suspects that her husband is having a love affair with another woman. She, therefore, invites the other woman Mrs. Erylnne on her birthday ball (Jack, 2018). On the other hand Pride and Prejudice is a romantic novel written by Jane Austen which was first published in early 19th century portrays irony on the book’s main character Elizabeth Bennett. Dramatic irony is the expression of one’s meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite. Act 1 of Oscar’s book of Lady Windermere finds out that the Lord, Windermere used to issue large sums of money to the lady Ms. Erylnne, in contrast to the reader’s opinion, an opinion that is unfavorable is developed to the intended woman. Contrary, the woman Windermere requests for the invitation of the woman to the night bash of her birthday party for her to aloe Erylnne enter a society of respect (Shaw, 2012). Therefore, the reader gets some element of dramatic irony since one can believe whether the statement of inviting Ms. Erylnne into her night bash was genuine, this is due to their personal affairs with her husband.

In the Pride is Prejudice, dramatic irony is seen when Darcy feels elated for Elizabeth whom she intends to be her sister in Nether field. This is an element of dramatic irony that is created in the mind of the reader of the book since there is no way Darcy could develop such love to Elizabeth who could not treasure her love. Though Elizabeth thinks that Darcy does not like and are not genuine Darcy’s feelings are genuine. This is a dramatic irony that is seen since Elizabeth does not regard the company that Darcy gives her.

The two books are therefore revealing some elements of dramatic irony to the readers of the books, the lady, Windermere is seen inviting her “enemy” into her birthday party at night which is least expected by the reader of the story, in both stories, dramatic irony is portrayed in the instances where they both show love to an enemy that is least expected to happen in the context (Goldie, 2017). In the First book by Oscar Wilde, Windermere is showing great love to inviting Miss Erylnne though she has doubts that Erylnn has an affair with her husband. This irony comes since; the reader does not expect Wilderness to invite her into her night birthday bash but to the contrary she invites her.

The other book also justifies the element of dramatic irony in the case where Darcy genuinely loves Elizabeth but Elizabeth could not accept and embrace the love from Darcy. Darcy goes to genuinely dance with her so as to reveal the kind of love she has for her but contrary Elizabeth does not still believe in the love from Darcy. It is ironical to the reader of the book that one does not believe in a friend who loves her genuinely. Darcy’s love to Elizabeth is true but to the contrary, Elizabeth does not trust the love from her genuine friend.

In conclusion, both books have a close correlation as the writers bring out the aspect of dramatic irony in almost the same way. It is noted that Elizabeth could not believe that Darcy was a genuine friend as she doubts her even after dancing together. Darcy is doing great to prove her true love to Elizabeth but she could not still believe in the genuine of the love. The other book also brings out the aspect of dramatic irony as Windermere against the reader’s expectations invites that lady whom she doesn’t trust with her husband into her night birthday party (Wilde, 2015).
