Ever since I was a young boy, my path towards a career in architecture was preordained. Being a member of a family of architects and interior designers gave me an inside look at the creative experience that accompanies this august profession. Through my family I learned the importance of art and architecture along with the humanitarian contributions of the great architects throughout history. It has always been my desire and passion to join the ranks of architects who utilize art to contribute to humanity. I very much want to make my contribution and leave my mark upon the world of architecture.
I started my collegiate career majoring in interior design so that I would have a broader base of knowledge in order to marry the disciplines of interior design and architecture. After I successfully completed my bachelor of arts degree in an honors program, I progressed to architecture and earned yet another bachelor of arts degree in an honors program. My passion for both fields propelled me towards the goal of making my dream of becoming an architect a reality. I have devoted the last seven years of my life to working as an architectural assistant, and before that I spent my summers in college working for an architectural firm. All of this experience has given me a greater understanding and appreciation of what architects do in terms of design and esthetics along with the technological aspects of engineering elements.

During my seven years as an architectural assistant I have discovered my love for designing everything from the exterior details of a building to designing the interior details including furniture. In fact, I have felt such an artistic kinship with furniture design that I am contemplating designing my own line of furniture. I feel that furniture is such an important detail in interior design and must mirror the owner’s personality in order to be enjoyed. It is this type of passion that I bring to my designs. Since I have a proclivity for global travels, I have had the good fortune to study many of the world’s greatest architectural feats. I hope to bring elements of these timeless classic beauties to my own design concepts.

Since I grew up in a family of artists I developed an appreciation of the esthetic early in life. My father, who is an architect, would often take me with him to his office if he had to work on Saturday mornings. I was always totally fascinated by the various projects my father was working on. He would have projects in different stages of development and he always took the time to explain the reasoning behind his ideas. In fact, he would explain everything from the concept to the final product, and I remember thinking that I wanted to be part of this creative process. My brother also chose to go down the path of design, and he is an interior designer. My uncle and three cousins are civil engineers. It is easy to see how my family heavily influenced my decision to become an architect. Anytime I had a question or concern about design or design flaws, there was always someone around who could explain to me thoroughly the whys and wherefores. The more I learned about architecture, the more I wanted to know.

Now, I have arrived at this juncture in my life where I want to know even more. The only way to do that is to continue my education at the master’s level. I have come to know and understand that being an architect is not just a job; it is a way of life. Whenever I plan one of my trips, I always plan it around what types of buildings I want to visit. Since architecture is not a static profession, I can take my love of the design elements and push the envelope. Architects are always uncovering new construction methods and materials which make it especially exciting when trying to meet the needs of the client as well as the architect’s need for artistic expression. By achieving this goal of earning a master’s degree in architecture, I can continue to develop and evolve as a professional and as an artist.
