The supporters of global warming provide several arguments as to why global warming is real. First of all, they point out the fact that sea level has been rising. The sea level rose by 6.7 inches in the last century which is about half the rate observed in the last decade. They also claim the warmest 10 years since the 1880 have occurred in the past 12 years. Similarly, oceans have also been warming as evident by the fact that top 700 meters of ocean has a temperature of 0.302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969. Another proof of global warming is the shrinking ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctic. The extent and thickness of Arctic ice has also rapidly declined over the last few decades. We also know the occurrence of extreme events such as storms and intense rainfalls has increased in the U.S. (NASA).

The opponents of global warming imply it is a carefully orchestrated hoax. One of the arguments they make is that 2014 saw record snowfall which is quite a contrast to the claims that snow may completely disappear. They also say polar vortex shows global warming is hoax because it occurred in a year that is being claimed as the hottest year. The critics of global warming also argue Al Gore’s predictions have been wrong as oceans have not risen as much as he claimed. The critics also believe nature produces more CO2 than humans (Global Climate Scam).
