Over the years, the world has experienced a number of changes in all aspects of life. Ideally, this is credited to the inventions and innovations which have surfaced the IT (Information Technology) market. One of the products which have resulted as a result of the development of emerging technologies is 3 D printing. Contrary to the belief, 3 D printing has been present in the IT industry for a long time. Despite this, its use has been minimized owing to the number of expenses involved in its manufacture and distribution (Lipson, et al. p. 20).

Despite this, the growth and development of the industry in various aspects of development has changed this dynamic in more ways than one. Firstly, the growth of 3D printers has increased because of the improvement of consumer awareness (Singh, p. 58). One of the ways in which this has been made possible is because of the collaboration between internet communities who have taken advantage of the strong networking in the industry. Communities often share their technologies and ideas to various economic, social, and political sectors. This makes it easier for users to have access to the latest 3D technologies and computing which have become inexpensive due to continued exposure. According to president Barrack Obama’s State of the Union Speech in 2013, he stated that “3D printing is a wave of the future” (Martin et al. p. 30)

Furthermore, this form of technology and communication can be incorporated into all elements of development. An example can be seen in the educational system which is highly reliant on technology. Currently, schools have taken advantage of this technology by adopting 3D printing in the school curriculum. To add on, the use of the social media enables students to access 3D printing on their phones and computers from both school and home. This increases the rate of efficiency, reliability and effectiveness of e-learning as a whole (Lipson, et al. p. 62).

Apart from improving the rate of literacy in the country, 3D technologies can be used to enhance the understanding of such subjects such as mathematics and science. In turn, society is better exposed to aspects of IT which can be used to impact global growth. One of the advantages of sharing technologies amongst communities is educating the public on the way the process works. Firstly, 3D printing brings about intricate printing owing to the introduction of (AM) Additive Manufacturing by adding layers to the object or material in questions. This form of technology is designed to instruct the computer to add the layering in each object until the desired picture is realized (Singh, p. 67).

The material of the product is ceramics, plastics, paper, or metal which can be used to design pictures to have a 3D effect as the end result. Moreover, 3D printing has become popular because it makes printed pictures appear to be real compared to ordinary printing. Currently, there are a number of industries that use 3D printing to improve their functions and performance. Some of the industries in question are the fashion industry, the banking sector, architecture, medicine, and education. As such, the government has formed alliances with leading manufacturing companies to promote emerging technologies that compliment 3D printing (Lipson, et al. p. 73).

In conclusion, 3D printing represents the growth of technology from a simple trade to an essential part of life. More users have become educated on this form of technology making it one of the leading forms of technology of the 21st century.
