Book: A book of revelation is one of the central books in the New Testament. The book starts with the Greek word “Apokalypsis”. This word can be translated into modern English as “revelation”. It is a typical situation, when a book in New testament is knowm by the word it starts with. This is the only book, which is entirely dedicated to apocalypsis, even though it is paid attention in a number of other books as well. The authorship of the book remains in the focus of acedmic discussion, even though the author explicitly refers to himself by the name “John”. Early Christian authors speak of John the Apostle as the most likely author of the book of revelations. However, modern scholars believe, that John the apostle is unlikely to live at the time when the book was written (Collins, 1983).

Personality: John the Apostle was born 6 A.D. in Galilee, which then was a part of Roman empire and lived until 100 A.D., when he died in Patmos, Grece, which also used to be a part of Roman empire at the time is considered to be one of the apostles of Jesus. It is believed that he was the one of the twelve apostles, who lived the longest and died a natural death.

Setting: Galilee or HaGalil or Al-Jalil is a territory in the north of modern Israel. It is thought to be the part of the country covered with mountains. Galilee is thought to be the place where Jesus used to live at least thirty years of his life. He particularly spent mucht time in the town of Nazareth, evidence of which is to be found in the new Testament. According to Meyers (1999) and a number of other sources, this is oftentimes cited as a place, where a large portion of the miracles, performed by Jesus took place, including the most famous ones.
