Online learning involves studying without necessarily going to the classes. The learning program is aimed at helping the learners who are not willing to attend the lessons physically or committed in other activities. The programs are in pursuit for online content delivery and interactions with learners. Learners usually experience challenges especially when it comes to effective planning, technological use, and time management. Also, the process does not involve visual or nonverbal feedback, and therefore hindering productive learning. Notably, there can be commendable successes once the online learning strategies are closely followed and implemented (Walden University, 2012c). The learning strategy requires the learner to understand the nature and scope of the study to ensure that he is ready with the requirements for the study. The element of workable planning in the online learning provides a proper ground for the overall achievement of the set learning goals (Walden University, 2012f). Therefore, this must involve regular planning of study times hence the success of the studying. Undoubtedly, the students who use this strategy do achieve academic excellence. The flexibility of the learning mostly put the learners in trouble. And thus, the learners may end up the delay to go through the course contents hoping to find them later. It is imperative to find time for the coursework to avoid missing of important content. Therefore, the learners ought to adhere rigidly to a consistent schedule. Despite the unavailability of regular class meetings, the learning must involve a rigid work schedule (Baker & Baker, 2003). Personal responsibility entails keeping time with the lecturers, online connections with other students and ensuring that the student follows the schedules as stipulated. More often than not, students fail out in following the schedules, which are critical for the success of the online studies.
The incorporation of opening and using of lines of communication will automatically lead to academic achievement. And thus, asking questions during the learning processes especially in assignments greatly benefit the learners. In this context, the learners should use the means preferred by the tutors such as Skype. Students who don’t show interest in the online conversation often remain behind regarding academic achievement (Walden University, 2012c). Moreover, the establishment of an effective relationship with the instructors helps in opening the perspective of the learner widely.
Using strong and reliable network providers also plays a critical role in enhancing the online studies. Students that are connected to strong and reliable network providers have the ability to access the online portals, libraries, and online streaming of the lessons without the fear of buffering, network breakdown and other network-related issues that may negatively affect the flow of information from the learning center to the student (Walden University, 2012c).
In conclusion, it is imperative that the student goes through the proper orientation program for online learning to understand the requirements for the success of the online studies. It is of the essence to ensure that one is connected to the right network provider, attached to the right students for peer learning, and use the most efficient communication equipment (Walden University, 2012c). Time discipline is also prudent for the online studies as the students would be required to keep up with the stipulated time schedule to access the required learning materials and examinations.
